May Council Convened with Announcement of Events

VAM Council convened in May with newly appointed Regional Representatives to discuss updates from the following standing committees: Community Engagement Committee, Governance Committee, Resource Development Committee, and a re-envisioning of the Member Engagement Committee. We believe this structure aligns with the new strategic plan that has been adopted and will help us to focus on some key priorities for the organization moving forward. This is the first meeting where Dorette Sobolewski of the Mountain-Valleyand Elaine McFadden of the Central region met with new Regional Representatives: Callie Hawkins of DC, Amanda Williams of Tidewater, Scotty Almany of Southwest, Mary Helen Dellinger of Northern Virginia. While VAM enters into the next fiscal year, VAM has successfully created new programming for membership, updated membership benefits, and relaunched the Virginia Certificate in Museum Management program. Over 40 people registered in the Demystifying Finance and 70+ attendees tuned in to learn about the VA Museum Virtual Convening, both workshops led by Karen L. Daly. We are very pleased to announce that the first MeetUp for 2024 the MeetUp at Mariners' Museum and Park is SOLD OUT. When the Virginia Certificate In Museum Management Program was relaunched in January, there was a 50% increase in student enrollments since the program was in effect.
