Summary – The Project Manager oversees the planning, implementation, tracking and installation of high-profile construction projects, while interfacing with both construction professionals and internal stakeholders and developing a professional working relationship with the client.
Responsibilities –
Lead
• Determine strategies to best move the project forward, set goals, create and implement action plans and evaluate results.
• Ensure project execution is on time and on budget.
• Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness.
• Role model relationships with clients, internal teams and subcontractors.
• Work seamlessly with internal teams, estimators, finance and shop.
Plan
• Define the scope of the project in collaboration with estimating and senior management.
• Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed for successful project completion.
• Evaluate and identify the resources required.
• Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities.
• Collaborate and review the project schedule with senior management and all other stakeholders; revise and maintain the schedule as required.
Implement
• Execute, monitor and troubleshoot.
• Establish communication schedule to update stakeholders and manage periodic internal meetings with support staff to review progress.
• Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards.
Manage
• Monitor and approve all budgeted project expenditures.
• Manage all project funds according to established accounting policies and best practices.
• Ensure that all financial records for the project are up to date.
• Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for clients in compliance with project agreements.
• Develop trusted relationships among clients, internal collaborators and subcontractors.
• Ensure safety standards are a priority, respected by all project participants.
Qualifications
• Experience managing complex, custom construction or exhibit projects.
• Strong leadership and team collaboration skills across internal departments and subcontractors.
• Proven ability to plan, schedule, and execute multi-year projects on time and within budget.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities with clients and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with museum exhibit fabrication, media, lighting and specialty construction a plus.
