Facilities & Exhibits Technician

Full-Time | Benefits Eligible

 

The Children’s Museum is seeking a Facilities & Exhibits Technician to help bring our mission to life: inspiring growth in all children by engaging families in learning through play. This hands-on, full-time position reports to the Facilities and Exhibits Directors and plays a vital role in maintaining safe, engaging, and welcoming environments at both our Downtown and Chesterfield locations.

 

Position Overview

The Facilities & Exhibits Technician supports the daily operation, upkeep, and improvement of Museum facilities and exhibits. This role combines technical skill with creativity and teamwork to ensure our spaces remain functional, engaging, and ready for exploration by children and families.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Construct, repair, and maintain Museum exhibits
  • Perform general building maintenance, including light electrical and plumbing work
  • Support upkeep of facilities at both Museum locations
  • Assist with landscaping, cleaning, and general labor tasks
  • Safely use hand and power tools as needed
  • Provide flexible support for special projects and operational needs, including occasional evenings or weekends

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in general labor, light construction, or a related trade
  • Experience with light electrical and/or plumbing work strongly preferred
  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check

 

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Capability to lift and move heavy objects
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors
  • Willingness to work occasional nights or weekends as required

Compensation:

$20-$24/hour
