Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in history, anthropology, museum studies, or a related field; two years of experience as an interpreter or educator in a museum or historic site or teaching experience in the fields of history, anthropology, or elementary education; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in teaching outreach education programs. Ability to apply an interactive, team-teaching approach to museum education preferred. Must have general knowledge and understanding of Colonial and American Indian history and culture. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Ability to learn and perform group program booking procedures. Experience in grant preparation and management. Must be able to lift 25 pounds. Good driving record required. Must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.


Under the direction of the Henricus Historical Park Education Supervisor, responsible for learning and teaching all grade level and age-appropriate programs (Pre-K - Adult), five weekdays. Serves as daily coordinator of educational staff, programs and schedule. Responsible for some departmental budgeting and reporting. Provides program materials upkeep and lesson plan and educational information packet revisions. Responsible for researching and learning educational content for each program to be implemented for differing ages. Assists in the general upkeep of the Indian village as a "classroom" venue. Helps schedule, organize, coordinate and run all day camps and scout camp-ins as well as teacher in-services, workshops, institutes and open houses and works on weekends as needed for special events and programs. Perform other work as required.


40 hours/week; Monday - Friday between 8:30a.m. - 5:00p.m.; includes some weekends and holidays.

Salary: $32,621.00 - $38,392.00 Annually
