The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley has an exciting opportunity available for a Director of Events and Corporate Relations is responsible for leading the design, execution, and evaluation of signature and external events while cultivating and managing relationships with corporate partners. This role is responsible for ensuring that events advance the mission of the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley by strategically supporting revenue‑generating opportunities through event planning, execution, and evaluation.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or related field or equivalent related experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in event management, corporate relations, or advancement.
  • Demonstrated success in securing corporate sponsorships and executing large‑scale events.
  • Strong organizational, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure with professionalism and creativity.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Event Leadership
    • Plan, oversee, and execute major organizational events including external and signature events.
      • External events are defined as organizational activities and facility rentals that occur outside of the institution’s internal operations. These events are designed to maximize community partnerships and generate revenue earned through rentals and/or benefits of Art of Business corporate participants
      • Signature events are defined as high‑profile occasions that serve as revenue‑generating opportunities. These events are designed to elevate the visibility of the organization, strengthen relationships with corporate partners, and provide meaningful experiences for the broader community.
    • Develop event strategies that align with advancement revenue goals and enhance visibility.
    • Manage event budgets, contracts, and logistics to ensure high‑quality experiences that are mutually beneficial

 

  • Corporate Relations
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate sponsors, partners, and prospects through holding a portfolio of Art of Business Partners
    • Develop sponsorship packages and proposals tailored to corporate interests and organizational priorities.
    •  Ensure the fulfillment, annual review, and ongoing maintenance of sponsorship benefits and recognition across all events and organizational communications.

 

  • Strategic Collaboration
    • Work closely with advancement, marketing, and program teams to integrate events into broader fundraising and engagement strategies.
    • Partner with leadership to identify new opportunities for corporate support and event innovation.
    • Serve as a liaison to board committees or volunteer groups supporting events and corporate outreach.

 

  • Management & Reporting
    • Track and report on revenue and corporate engagement metrics that are set annually.
    • Provide regular updates to leadership team and board members.

 

This is a full-time position with work hours primarily Monday­-Friday, during the museum’s normal business hours with some evening and weekends required for stakeholder events. Work environment is flexible, including opportunities for remote work and adjusted scheduling to meet organizational and employee needs.
