Summary - The Advancement Manager will advance relationships and secure new philanthropic funding for operating budget initiatives and projects across Historic Kenmore and George Washington’s Ferry Farm.

The successful candidate will focus their time and efforts on researching/identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting new philanthropic support in the $5,000 - $50,000 range from individuals, foundations, and corporations in support of The George Washington Foundation’s priority projects.

Job Responsibilities -

  • Participate in conceiving and advancing an annual plan to expand the prospect and donor pool for the annual fund to realize and exceed operating, budget goals for fund raising support.   
  • Conduct research and advance a portfolio of prospective new annual fund prospects.  Focus of time and effort: individuals (65%), foundations (25 %), and corporations (10%) utilizing the “moves-management” process. This process will require individual initiative and include collaborating with the Director of Institutional Advancement in supporting volunteer leadership who will host annual fund events in locations across the country.
  • Visit virtually and in-person with GWF prospects to achieve annual personal and team revenue goals. Visits include annual leadership gift solicitations, as well as qualification, cultivation, and solicitation visits.  
  • Draft finished-quality proposals to individuals, foundations and corporations and letters and advancement materials.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Advancement in organizing and staffing annual fund events hosted by GWF leadership and friends in key locations across the country.
  • Manage special annual fund mailings by volunteer solicitors.
  • With attention to detail, working with Advancement colleagues, participate in the planning, management, and staffing of multi-day and evening Advancement events for volunteer leadership, prospects and/or supporters.    
  • Document moves in Raisers Edge Database. 
  • Undertake other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications -

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Knowledge of philanthropic research databases. 
  • Exceptional written communication skills, particularly in drafting proposals and editing donor-related communications.
  • Experience or familiarity with the Raiser’s Edge database and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
