Job Description - Act as costumed Museum teacher to communicate historical information to the public and schools, demonstrate historic handcrafts and trades (which might include woodworking, blacksmithing, textiles, coopering etc…), perform daily farm and interpretive tasks such as animal care, garden and field work, general site maintenance, and cooking. Weekend work required, plus occasional evening shifts to provide seven-day coverage
Minimum Requirements - Experience in historic museum interpretation, education or other direct work with the public preferred; must be dependable, mature, with strong interpersonal, verbal, and customer service skills. The successful candidate must have reliable transportation and be able to work in outdoor and farmsite environments in hot/cold/inclement weather, lift up to 40 lbs and participate in all manner of farm work on a daily basis. Ability to wear full historic period costume as directed.
Preferred Requirements - Recent museum, educational, or other professional or customer service work experience preferred; 2+ years. Ability to demonstrate historical handcrafts or trades and/or musical ability or the ability to perform period vocal or instrumental music a plus. A bachelor’s degree in history, education, anthropology, the arts or social sciences is a plus.
