Position Title - Art Camp Assistant

Compensation -  $15/hour; 20–35 hours per week, Monday–Friday, June 10–August 23 

Job Type -  Part-time Hourly

Summary - Reporting to the Education Coordinator, the Art Camp Assistant assists with the preparation and daily operations of Virginia MOCA Summer Art Camp including administrative support and customer service. The Art Camp Assistant must be able to work in an independent and self-directed manner with frequent and regular communication with the Education Coordinator, instructors, volunteers, parents/guardians, and campers. 

Job Responsibilities -

Art Camp 

  • Oversees Art Camp sign-in/out procedure
  • Warmly and professionally greet art camp families at pick up and drop off
  • Photograph camp activities for record-keeping
  • Collects and manages required camper medical and information forms
  • Prepares weekly studio binders including door signs, rosters, sign-in sheets, lunch bunch list, art camp volunteer schedule, evaluations, teen sign-in/out form, Prisms flyers, and incident forms 
  • Sends weekly reminders email to parents/guardians of campers, instructors, and volunteers
  • Utilize CRM to pull camp reports and send notifications to families 
  • Provides support to Art Camp instructors as needed, may assist in the absence of Art Camp Volunteers
  • Oversees campers during Lunch Bunch, a 30-minute lunch break for full-day campers.
  • General cleaning and organization of the studios and supplies
  • Communicate with Education staff about camp projects, space and supply needs, and any behavioral challenges that may arise.
  • Support preparations for Prisms Art Camp Exhibition, a showcase of student work that occurs each fall
  • Other duties as assigned 

Education Support

  • Provides administrative and research support to education staff.
  • Prepares, maintains, and organizes education supplies and materials.
  • Other projects may be assigned, as needed. 

Qualifications -

  • 1+ years of management or related experience and/or strong investment in art education
  • High School Diploma
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to maintain continuous physical activity while working safely in an office and studio environment.
  • Strong customer service and administrative skills
  • Ability to assess priorities and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and a positive, creative approach to being an imaginative, flexible, and resourceful staff member
  • Knowledge of modern computer programs (including Microsoft Suite)
  • Experience working in youth-based programs and in art studios, preferred
  • Must have a valid Virginia Driver’s License and maintain a good driving record
  • Background check is required
