The theme for this conference is: Building Community: Engagement, Access, and Support

Museum professionals often think about how they can best show their value as a community asset. Embedded within those conversations are larger discussions on the meaning of place, space, and access as well as the implications on staffing, funding decisions, engagement with stakeholders, relevant programming, exhibition elements, and the very definition of community itself. Indeed, it begs the question of how to implement inclusive language, the lived and written experiences of diverse, historically marginalized voices, and uncovering biases within the very fabric of our walls. These are our challenges – these are our opportunities.

As in most questions or museum best practices, there is no single overarching answer to the question of how to be both a pillar of one’s community – however that might be defined - while balancing that against the realities of running a museum as a business with limited human and financial resources. VAM 2024 invites our museum community to add your experiences, challenges, successes, failures, and more to the discussion on the value and means by which we build community inside and outside of our walls. We look forward to these discussions in Virginia Beach as we explore how we can help each other succeed in this ever-changing landscape.

All VAM Conference Attendees will need to acknowledge the following:

  • I understand that the top priority of VAM during this conference is the health and safety of our attendees. I understand that attending any public event could carry inherent risk and agree not to hold VAM liable for any health issues that may arise as a result of attending the conference.
  • I agree to abide by any social distancing or masking recommendations in place from the CDC at the time of the conference, as well as follow any guidelines about COVID exposure quarantine that are in place in March.

Registration Instructions: 

  1. After March 3, you can register in person for the conference and/or additional events each day of the conference. See the schedule-at-a-glance for those open registration dates.
  2. Remember to turn your clocks one hour ahead on Sunday! Daylight Savings Time starts March 10 at 2 am.  
  3. Sign into your account before registering! This ensures you receive your applicable registration rate, such as the discounted rates for members. The promo code will only apply once per member. Contact us if you need assistance. 
  4. Select your applicable conference registration rate from the Full or Single Day Registration section. 
  5. While most meals are included, registration is required for the Awards Luncheon. *Please let us know of any dietary restrictions.
  6. Add any free or paid events you wish to attend under the Optional Tickets section. If you have questions about guest tickets, please contact us.
  7. Fill in applicable information for each ticket item.
  8. Apply applicable promo code EB2024 before check out. The promo code will only apply once per registration. Be sure to hit the "Apply" button!
  9. Complete registration by paying online or create an invoice to mail in a check or to pay later. 

More Tips: 

  1. Use Promo Code EB2024 by January 30 to take $50 off your conference registration. The promo code will apply to Non-Member and Single Member full registration only.
  2. If you are a museum wishing to register multiple attendees, please fill in the required Attendee Information for each person for each ticket. 
  3. Museums sending 3+ representatives should select the Multiple Member Registration to receive the additional discounted rate.
  4. Optional event tickets can be added to an order after conference registration is processed. For example, for those whose employers will pay for conference registration but not events.
