EVENT POSTPONEMENT - Important Update for VAM's 2026 Virginia Top Ten Endangered Artifacts Program and Celebration with Preservation Virginia's Legislative Reception

The Virginia Top Ten Endangered Artifacts Program and Celebration with Preservation Virginia’s Legislative Reception, originally scheduled for January 29, will now be held February 10, 2026. Due to icy conditions, we believe it is in the best interest of all attendees to reschedule. The event will be held in Richmond, VA from 5-7PM located at the Red Bird Social Club at 100 N 6th St, Richmond, VA 23219.

This will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your organization’s preservation efforts and share the story of your artifact with a larger audience, including many Virginia legislators. Brief remarks will be given by VAM at approximately 6:30PM.

Join VAM and Preservation Virginia for a reception celebrating the positive impacts of historic preservation and its importance to communities across the Commonwealth. If you're available to attend the rescheduled date, please email Jason Kramer at jkramer@preservationvirginia.org

As part of a strategic partnership formed between VAM and the Virginia Museum of History & Culture, the 2026 Virginia Top Ten Endangered Artifacts program is proudly sponsored by the VMHC. This partnership will allow VAM to provide more meaningful support to member institutions and their submitted, endangered artifact for conservation.

The following grant awards will be announced at the VAM 2026 conference in Colonial Williamsburg:

  • Juried Award (Reviewed by a museum practitioner committee) - $1500
  • People’s Choice Award - $1500
  • The remaining eight nominees will be awarded $500 each

The 2026 Virginia's Top Ten Endangered Artifact nominees include Patrick Henry’s Red Hill, Fauquier Historical Society, Historical Society of Western Virginia, Jones Memorial Library, Menokin Foundation, Stratford Hall Historic Preserve, The Hermitage Museum and Gardens, Woodlawn & Pope-Leighey House, Lucy Burns Museum, and the Amherst County Museum and Historical Society
