Professional Bio

Steven is a Senior Principal and co-Owner of Glavé & Holmes. He joined G&H in 2009, to Direct the firm’s Cultural Studio, with a career focus working with cultural properties including museums, historic sites and visitor-oriented facilities. He is a graduate of the University of Oregon (1997) and brings a broad background in historic preservation and contextual design to the firm, including over a decade of prior experience working on historic properties of Nantucket Island. His work has included projects with multiple National Historic Landmark properties and nationally recognized museums and has been recognized by multiple community and AIA awards. Steven has received recognitions including the Ann Brownson Award from VAM, and a Special Recognition Award from the North Carolina Museum Council (NCMC) for exceptional service to the museum community. He joined the Ownership at Glave & Holmes starting in 2017, leads key planning and community engagement projects for the firm, and has been a speaker at numerous additional conferences and events, including the American Association of State and Local History (AASLH), the Southeast Museum Conference (SEMC), the Association of Academic Museums & Galleries (AAMG), and multiple statewide museum conferences including VAM.
