Professional Bio

For over twenty years, Andrea has been a dedicated urban designer and architect. He graduated from the University of Florence, Italy, with a Master of Architecture and Technology. He then moved to Edinburgh, Scotland, where he received a MSc in Urban Design. His broad experience in both urban design and architecture has taught him to analyze the development of our cities holistically, to study architecture in relation to its surrounding urban spaces. His philosophical approach is well summarized in the words of the Italian architect Ernesto Nathan Rogers, who once claimed that the strength of an architect lies in their ability to design “from city to teaspoon.” Andrea has adopted this approach in his work at H2L2 and Kieran Timberlake in Philadelphia and then at SMBW and Quinn Evans in Richmond. His projects include Master Plans (e.g. Morehouse College in Atlanta; Bucknell University in PA; and other American schools around the globe) as well as academic and public buildings (e.g. at Cornell, Yale, Middlebury, Duke, and Virginia Commonwealth University, as well as the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and several public libraries).
