The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) is seeking dynamic, visitor-centric individuals to join the team as Education Program and Event Technicians.
The Education Event & Program Technician is responsible for providing technical and operational support for events and programs for the Education Department. This position works with museum staff, volunteers, and the community at-large to ensure that events and programs run smoothly and are an inviting atmosphere for all museum visitors.
Duties include:
Work a minimum of three Family Day, Education, community outreach, and/or Teen events per year, averaging two to nine hours per event. Attendance at orientations and meetings scheduled prior to each event is required.
Support the preparation, set up, clean-up, and production of VMFA’s large-scale Family Day and Teen events, community outreach festivals, and other Education programs.
Learn the logistics of the program/event and must read assigned material such as program handouts, lesson plans, and planning documents prior to the event day so that they are able to answer the visitors’ or volunteers’ questions accordingly.
Serve as VMFA Education representatives at Community festivals and other offsite events, on occasion.
Setup and breakdown at off site events, facilitating art activities, and talking with informing the public about VMFA exhibitions, programs, and events.
Assist with coordinating performers/artists/presenters/volunteers, introducing performers and artist demonstrations, facilitating art activities, managing art supplies, and answering questions from the public.
Oversee volunteers that assist with day-of events and programs.
Serve as an assistant for virtual programs, on occasion.
