The Coordinator of Visual Arts Programming & Administrative Support is responsible for managing visual arts events, exhibitions, and communications while providing administrative and logistical support to the School of the Arts and Department of Fine Art and Art History and the Torggler Fine Arts Center (museum).

Purpose of the Position: This role ensures the smooth operation of academic and public-facing arts events by facilitating communication, managing events, and supporting students, faculty, staff, and community partners. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about the arts in a university setting. Strong interpersonal, communication, and digital skills are essential, as is a commitment to providing excellent service to students, faculty, staff, visiting artists, and the public. This role also involves supervising student workers and fostering collaboration between academic units, the Torggler Fine Art Center, and community partners.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position  

  • Excellent writing skills and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and show initiative in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in a gallery, museum, or in an arts-setting.
  • Advanced knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
  • Experience with the creation of digital images.
  • Experience with word processing and/or spreadsheet software

Experience:

  • Experience working in a museum, gallery, or arts setting.
  • Experience in event coordination and public programming.
  • Experience with budget tracking and spreadsheets.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Experience working with artwork, AV equipment, and event logistics.
  • Experience with university purchasing systems (e.g., eVA).
  • Experience with content creation for marketing or social media.
  • Experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Canva/Photoshop.
  • Experience supervising/overseeing the work of others

Salary Information: Starting at $41,121
