LEAD EDUCATOR – Part Time
The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley has a part time opportunity for a creative, enthusiastic Lead Educator to provide outstanding visitor experiences for guests at the MSV. Through gallery interactions, guided school and adult tours, facilitated discussion, family and adult programs, special events and outreach activities, a Lead Educator engages the public in ongoing learning and exploration. Lead Educators ensure that tours are conducted in a consistent educational and professional manner that reflects the mission of the Museum. Secondary responsibilities include providing guests with directions, information, and assistance regarding the site with exceptional hospitality in a friendly, attentive manner.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and visitors of all ages at all levels
- Excellent public speaking skills
- Ability to collaborate with a strong team of employees and volunteers to achieve visitor service goals
- Proven interest in and/or knowledge of history, decorative arts, and fine arts
- Commitment to providing excellence in interpretation of the site to the public is paramount
- Prior teaching experience in a formal or informal setting preferred
- Ability to maintain sensitivity to the care necessary for the museum collection, house, and gardens
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; familiarity with iPads.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR a plus
This is a part-time hourly position with flexible work hours including evenings and weekends as needed. Compensation starts at $16.48 per hour.
