Event Details

We invite VAM members, the museum community, and their families, to join us for a FUNdraising event on Saturday October 14 from 11 AM - 3 PM at the Frontier Culture Museum in Staunton.

Come spend the day in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley during the leaf-peeping season. Both kids and adults can enjoy fun activities organized by VAM members from the Mountain Valley region. They will offer educational programs and activities such as textile art, historical lawn games, and quilt writing.

All proceeds will go to VAM and its mission to support museum professionals with professional development and networking opportunities.

baby cowThe Frontier Culture Museum will be raffling off a basket filled with items such as tickets, books, and other fun goodies. Friends at Belle Grove Historic Plantation, Rocktown History, Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, Virginia Quilt Museum, and Waynesboro Heritage Center have generously donated to the basket.

Entrance to the Frontier Culture Museum is free for attendees and costumed interpreters will conduct living history activities on the Museum’s outdoor living history exhibits such as the American Indian exhibit and the 1760 exhibit. The current temporary exhibit “E Pluribus Unum” tells the complex story of the shaping of the United States through historical maps from 1600 to 1800. The Frontier Culture Museum would also love to share some exciting news about the new gallery building and exhibition planned to open in July 2026 with you.

It will be a day filled with fun and educational opportunities. We really hope you can join us and fellow VAM members, enjoy plenty of great food and company, and help support the Virginia Association of Museums.
