Educational Offerings
Offerings include a tour of the historic home of Captain William Henderson, "Burnt Chimneys", which was built in 1796 and burned by the British during the war of 1812. A federal frame home was rebuilt on the original foundation in 1815. The house is furnished with period decor and features an authentic tavern of the early nineteenth century. In addition, the music room of the house has an orchestral pipe organ which will be featured in concerts throughout the year.
Focus of Your Collection
We focus on 19th century industry, featuring 2 items that were common to 19th century households; clocks and organs. We have rotating displays of over 200 clocks and 135 organs (both reed and pipe organs) from that time period. In addition, we have a small theater where we plan to hold concerts and accompany silent films on a restored early 20th century theater pipe organ.
