Curator of Collections
General Responsibilities: Curator of Collections is responsible for the care, documentation, acquisitions, and conservation of the objects in Preservation Virginia’s fine and decorative arts collection. The position assists with the development of storylines, labeling, and object content for interpretive and exhibitions. The position is expected to research and publish findings relating to historic interiors and collections resulting in presentations, publications and programs. The position reports to the Director of Museum Operations.
Qualifications: This position requires a bachelor’s degree in decorative arts, history or closely related field, a master’s degree is preferred. The candidate must have a strong knowledge of material culture, including fine arts, decorative arts, folk art, architectural history, and related subjects and developing research and writing skills. History of publications and presentations is a plus.
