Join VAM and conservators from the VMFA for a full-day collections care workshop, hosted at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond. This introductory workshop will offer instruction and hands-on activities relating to basic object handling, collection labeling and documentation, and risk assessment. Topics pertaining to works on paper, paintings and objects will be covered. Participants will receive a basic tool kit and housing material samples, as well as a collection of printed and digital resources for further learning. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided. The workshop is produced in partnership with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the Virginia Association of Museums, and is presented by the VMFA’s current Fellows: Assistant Paper Conservator Jenni Krchak and Assistant Paintings Conservator Catherine Dussault. As a special bonus for this workshop, participants will receive a complementary ticket to view the latest special exhibition, Frida: Beyond the Myth following the conclusion of the workshop.Workshop topics and activities will include:
