NOVA Regional Meet-Up in Alexandria

Enjoy Historic Alexandria in the beauty of the holiday season at our NOVA Regional Meet-Up!

We'll start at 4:00PM at the Friendship Firehouse Museum for a tour of this incredible 1855 historic structure. The Friendship fire company, founded in 1774, was Alexandria's first volunteer brigade, and served the community through the 20th century. The Historic Alexandria team is currently re-envisioning what this historic site could be--so let's talk about! We'll discuss the interpretation process, dig into some historical myths, and learn about the impact of the Great Fire of 1827. Plus, what's a visit to a firehouse without a chance to ring the fire bell?

We'll then walk just a few blocks away to the Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum at 4:30PM where we'll enjoy some cozy refreshments and explore the museum. Tour the new 250th exhibit: Stories of U.S.: Collections Capture Our History, a look at how the nation was built through the stories of dozens of objects in Historic Alexandria's collection, and design your own historic Shrinky Dink ornament to take home! Both unique museum shops will also be open, offering a special 20% Discount.

We'll wrap up our evening at 6:00PM with dinner (details to come) in Old Town Alexandria.
