Event Details

We are headed south this November for a Regional Meet-Up in Danville!

Join us at The Danville Science Center to explore cutting-edge and interactive STEM exhibits including Go!, an exhibit on movement and energy where guests can race a migrating monarch or run on a human-sized hamster-wheel. In Water, better understand the importance of water from the personal to the global scale when you see history trapped in ice, make clouds and enter a rain room without getting wet!

We will spend the afternoon at The Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History seeing their fall exhibition, Henry Van der Weyde: Sketches from a Civil War Prison. Van der Weyde’s sketchbook offers a vivid and detailed portrayal of prison life in Danville during the Civil War. His drawings depict Union and Confederate soldiers, as well as animals, local women, and scenes from the surrounding Danville landscape. Since its acquisition in 2012, DMFAH has recognized the sketchbook as one of the most significant and valuable items in its permanent collection due to its artistic merit and direct connection to Danville’s history.

We'll wrap up the day with further chance for connection and discussion at 6:00PM at the Golden Leaf Bistro!
