The Frontier Culture Museum of Virginia is accepting applications for the Visitor Services Lead position at our outdoor living history museum in Staunton VA. The Visitor Services Lead has two primary responsibilities. The first is to serve as the primary point of contact for individual visitors, school groups, and group tour operators. Specific responsibilities include: welcoming museum visitors, processing admissions, scheduling and checking in groups, answering phones, processing reservations, taking deposits, making change and issuing refunds, and positively communicating pricing and visitation policies. Secondly, the Visitor Services Lead is responsible for the Museum Store. Specific responsibilities include managing store displays, tracking, ordering and managing inventory, identifying new products, determining promotional opportunities, and maintaining profitable margins and total revenue for the retail operation. Successful candidates will possess the aptitude for providing excellent customer service and the aptitude to pleasantly manage difficult situations and resolve conflicts as an essential skill. Computer literacy is a must and experience with point-of-sale software and/or ticket systems is a plus. Must be able to work independently, make decisions and communicate important details in a positive and professional manner. The position will include weekdays, some weekends, holidays and special events. A flexible schedule with the ability to work weekend and special events is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Three or more years retail sales and/or customer service experience. Work-related experience and a high comfort level with cash handling, computers and computer systems essential. Experience supervising other staff.

Preferred Qualifications

MS Office proficiency and hands-on experience with social media and other online marketing tools. Experience using electronic point-of-sale reservation and retail sales systems. Knowledge/studies in American History a plus.
