Energetic, dependable individuals who enjoy working with children to inspire them to learn about science, technology,
engineering and math (STEM). Excellent public speaking, organizational, and guest service skills required. This position will
include educational and general duties for daily Summer STEM Camps.

About Summer STEM Camps:
Camp descriptions can be found
Camps are created for rising 1st – 4
th graders. The last week of camp designed for rising 5th – 7
th graders. The camp day is Monday-Friday from 9:00PM – 3:00PM, camp staff are required to be there from 8:00AM – 4:00PM.

Facilitate meaningful and educational informal experiences in Summer STEM Camp for children aged 5-12 at the Children’s
Science Center Lab at Fair Oaks Mall. Camp staff will lead hands-on and exploratory activities over the course of each week
of camp.
Responsibilities include:
 Preparation of camp materials and set up of activities and classroom
 Greet campers and their caregivers in a positive way; respond to questions and needs in a positive and supportive
 Lead games, crafts, animal encounters, experiments, and more!
 Assist with classroom and behavioral management
 Lead and engage in classroom discussions and hands-on activities
 Design additional camp activities that fits within the theme of camp
 Follow the established curriculum
 Supervise high school aged camp interns
 Learn about and display competency in STEM topics displayed in museum exhibits and activities
 Make safety a priority

The ideal candidate will possess:
 Demonstrated interest in elementary education, STEM subjects, and/or informal education
 Comfortable interacting with children, parents and/or caregivers, and general audiences
 Experience working closely with school-aged children
 Engage with children, adults, and other staff members
 Flexibility and enthusiasm
 Attention to detail, quick and independent learner
 Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills
 Must be 18 years or older to apply
 Can provide own transportation
 Attend Mandatory Training May 31st
- June 12th
 Commit to all 10 weeks of camp

College degree in progress or completed with focus on education, museum studies, or a field of science preferred. Experience
working with children required.
Successful completion of a criminal background check. Successful completion of a national background check and drug
screening may also be required.
