The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) is seeking a dynamic individual to join the Communications & Marketing Division as a Social Media Specialist.

The Social Media Specialist creates content for and maintains day-to-day activity and engagement across all social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Tik Tok. The position is responsible for growing an online community that drives traffic to the website, and increases visitation to the museum. The ideal candidate is both creative and analytical, and has a passion for storytelling, art, and digital trends.
 
This position reports to the Senior Marketing Manager in the Communications & Marketing Division. 

 Essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
●      Build and manage the museum’s social media profiles and presence, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok, and additional channels as deemed relevant.
●      Develop content calendars for each social media channel and produce creative, relevant, and compelling content.
●      Plan and design digital campaigns in collaboration with the marketing team to inform, engage, and motivate target audiences.
●      Design and implement social media strategies to align with museum and exhibition goals.
●      Actively respond to and engage in conversation with social media followers.
●      Identify digital consumer trends and insights.
●      Brainstorm new and creative growth strategies.
●      Track, measure, and analyze all initiatives to report on social media return on investment (ROI).
●      Other duties as assigned.
Ability to produce highly creative content daily.
●      Ability to maintain social media channels independently and cooperatively.
●      Proficient in writing for multiple audiences and multiple social channels.
●      Highly organized with great attention to detail.
●      Ability to gather and analyze data.
●      Knowledgeable in the principles in marketing and customer service.
●      Knowledgeable in paid media for various social media channels.
●      Ability to identify and define user needs.
●      Ability to work and communicate information effectively to staff and novice social media users.
●      Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud applications including Photoshop and Illustrator.
●      Basic photo and video experience.
Strong writing and copy editing experience. 
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While outside on campus grounds, all VMFA employees must wear masks when a social distance of six (6) feet cannot be maintained.
