The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) has an exciting opportunity for a qualified individual to join the Marketing and Communications Division as a Senior Marketing Manager.
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Marketing and Communications, the Senior Marketing Manager oversees the development and implementation of an integrated marketing plan for the VMFA. This position gathers the combined resources from within the Communications team and other teams within the Museum to ensure that the marketing plans effectively promote the Museum.
The successful candidate collaborates with other members within the team to create and evaluate communications strategies and develop marketing plans that are in line with the museum’s strategic plan. This position coordinates promotional campaigns and develops and maintains the marketing budget; monitors and reports on effectiveness of marketing plans; and works with the team to ensure we support the cultural, educational, and curatorial missions and the local and regional economic contributions of the Museum.
The Senior Marketing Manager along with the Marketing Content Strategist and Project Manager creates and implements a streamlined process for the development of marketing materials and publications from project inception to completion ensuring timelines are met and within budget.
The position also builds relationships across the museum with other divisions, coordinates marketing promotional campaigns, maintains a marketing budget, monitors and reports on the effectiveness of marketing plans.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, and to present ideas and concepts accurately and creatively.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, as well as to work independently within deadlines and budget limitations.
Experience with budget development, expense management, and project management.
Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and attention to detail in planning, negotiating, organizing, implementing, and evaluating multiple comprehensive advertising and promotional plans simultaneously.
Experience collaborating with media and media buyers to support exhibitions and events.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative with a good strategic understanding of marketing activities across all platforms.
Knowledge of managing print, web, and digital media projects to create integrated communications is essential.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, strategic planning, communications, or other related field; or a combination of college and related experience.
