The Community Development Department is seeking an energetic individual with a proven ability to administer museum programs with a strong knowledge of event planning in the Parks, Culture and Recreation Division.  The selected incumbent will be responsible for ensuring a dynamic schedule of programs and guest speakers at the City of Manassas Museum and other City-owned facilities. This position works to ensure public engagement in the heritage of the City with its various historical sites in addition to creating unique and enjoyable experiences that highlight the city spirit and charm. 

Job responsibilities include working to develop, plan, implement, and schedule museum programs, workshops, walking tours, special events and/or camps. Researches opportunities for new specialty programs and promotes all activities within the scope of the position; works with staff, volunteers, community partners and stakeholders as well as contracted employees to implement activities.

Education & Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in History, Museum Education, Education, Historic Preservation or related field required; supplemented by three (3) years related experience in coordinating educational programs and events. Candidates will be evaluated on the combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate proficiency in operating office equipment including a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, and other equipment are required as necessary to complete essential functions. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
