The Danville Science Center is looking for three dynamic and energetic Museum Generalists who will provide quality customer service and brand presentation to our Museum guests; present and interpret museum exhibits, assist in the delivery of educational programs to include STEM Programs, Outreach, Special Events, Birthday parties, as well as provide guest services and gift shop coverage, train volunteers, operate the Dome console, maintain the museum's butterfly garden as needed, and other duties as necessary that align with the Museum's strategic plan and mission. Please note that this is a part-time position and will work an average of 29 hours a week with a maximum of 1500 hours in a 12-month period. No state benefits are provided.
High school diploma with some post high school training, knowledge and demonstrated ability to implement STEM education in an informal setting; customer service experience; excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; the ability to be a self-starter and work successfully with little supervision; the ability to successfully work with people of all ages and backgrounds; and the ability to effectively present content in both one-on-one and group situations in an engaging, compelling and energetic manner in front of a live audience of varying ages. Additional qualifications include excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle money and inventory with accuracy and accountability. Ability to lift and carry objects and materials up to 50lbs. Must be available to work weekends, holidays and occasional evenings.
BS /BA degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in science or education and/or experience in K-12 science education. Experience working with children of various ages. Prior Museum experience a plus.
