The Branch Museum of Architecture is hiring!  Richmond, VA

The Branch Museum of Architecture and Design is seeking a part-time Educator for Adult Programs to assist in creating and executing educational events for adult audiences. The Museum Educator will help create and lead program activities, work alongside the Director of Operations and website coordinator to prepare for upcoming educational events. Located on historic Monument Avenue in downtown Richmond in the circa 1919 Tudor Revival style Branch House, the museum is uniquely situated by means of its location and its evolving story to promote, identify, and celebrate design that improves lives, strengthens communities, and transforms the world we share for the better. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Museum Educator for Adult Programs will develop, plan, and present educational and public programs for adult audiences including group tours, lectures, presentations, and performances at the Branch House. Initial emphasis will be on expanding our virtual programs and webinars for adult audiences. Programs will ultimately include group tours, lectures, presentations, and performances at the Branch House. Other responsibilities will be recruiting and training volunteers to assist with tours and programs, and training museum staff in new tours and programs as needed. 

Requirements:

Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; highly organized; flexible, enthusiastic, and able to work independently and as part of a team. Candidates must demonstrate a proven ability to research information independently and present that information in a written form. Ability to lift objects of up to 40 pounds, bend, stoop, climb stairs and work in a variety of conditions indoors and outdoors. Must pass a background check prior to employment.

This position is best suited for candidates with a bachelor’s degree in art history, art, design, history, museum studies, American studies, or education.

Schedule:

Schedule will be 15-20 hours per week. Evening and weekend hours may be required depending on the program schedule. Some tasks may require local travel or working off site.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary range is $15.00 - $20.00 per hour, dependent upon experience.  Free parking available on-site.

This position is anticipated to become a full-time opportunity in 2022. The full-time position will be responsible for all programming, including adult, children’s and family programs at the Branch Museum. Demonstrated experience with children’s and family programming will be required for the full-time position.
