Job Listing: Monticello Guide
The Thomas Jefferson Foundation seeks friendly individuals who love sharing complex history to serve as part-time guides. Successful candidates will embrace exploring issues of freedom and slavery with a wide variety of visitors, including school groups. Guides work approximately 68 hours per month (2-3 full days/week), giving tours of the house, staffing exhibition galleries, helping with special events, and attending staff meetings and training sessions. Monticello guides are committed to working as part of a team to ensure an excellent guest experience. Monticello's congenial work environment also allows employees a unique opportunity to further their intellectual curiosity through collegiate interaction and a robust ongoing training program.
Minimum qualifications: 2 years of college, demonstrated public speaking abilities, and a strong interest in early American history.
