Preservation Virginia seeks an enthusiastic, organized and motivated Interpretation Coordinator for Patrick Henry’s Scotchtown.

This is a part-time, year-round position that will require weekend work. $14 per hour 20-30 hours per week.

The ideal candidate with have exceptional communication skills and be able to enthusiastically represent Patrick Henry’s Scotchtown and Preservation Virginia’s statewide initiatives to the interpretive staff, students and visitors.

The Interpretation Coordinator will primarily be responsible for the administration and management of the interpretive staff, including training, scheduling, interpretation, and educational programmatic development in coordination with site coordinator and state-wide museum operations staff.

This is a front-facing position and will require active interpretation to the public. This position will also lead 45 minute – 1 hour long guided tours of Patrick Henry’s Scotchtown and serve as front-line staff in the museum shop. This position engages with diverse audiences on topics to include but not limited to: the history of Patrick Henry, and the social, political, and cultural history of the transition from colonialism through revolution to Early Republic periods including the complexities of gender, race, and slavery.

The Interpretation Coordinator will work with the Site Coordinator, and Museum Operations team to receive all training, including historical background, best practices in public history, historic interpretation, and tour techniques, and other necessary information for success in the position.
