The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) invites applications for Administrative and Project Coordinator, Reimagining Monument Avenue.
This position directly reports to the Project Manager, Reimagining Monument Avenue who will develop a plan to launch a community-driven effort to reimagine Monument Avenue as a forward-looking Avenue of the Arts that brings international attention and visitors to Richmond and Virginia, while also ensuring that spaces remain meaningful places for public engagement and community gatherings. This plan will be presented to the Governor, the Secretary of Education, and the Chairs of the House Appropriations and Senate Finance and Appropriations Committee on September 1, 2022.
This is a temporary position currently with funding from August 2021 – September 2022.
The anticipated start date is August 25, 2021 or earlier.

Manages and tracks all incoming items requiring review by Project Manager.
Maintains and organizes files for Project Manager.
Manages Project Manager’s calendar, keeping it accurately updated. Coordinates and schedules appointments.
Provides staff support for meetings including: tracking invitations and responses, compiling agendas, meeting materials, follow up materials, and preparing and distributing meeting minutes with attention to completeness, accuracy and timeliness.
Drafts researched and informed correspondence on behalf of the Project Manager as assigned. This includes, but is not limited to: agendas, reports, emails, letters, spreadsheets, speaking points, etc.
Reviews, edits, summarizes elements and offers suggestions and or other items to ensure Project Manager has a good view of documents or materials for approval.
Works on logistics and formulation of ideas to successfully complete Project Manager’s projects, programs, visits, and events, as assigned.
Researches and coordinates protocol in cases of diplomatic or high level officials, working closely with Project Manager, and/or other stakeholders.
Maintains accurate and up to date list of stakeholders contact information and affiliation.
Provides timely advice and communications about projects to Project Manager and all stakeholders through status updates, reports, budgets and discussion papers as needed.
Works within project timelines, budgets, and briefings as set by the Project Manager.
Researches and compiles information in support of special requests for various state and departmental reports and submissions, as assigned.
Maintains, and ensures, a high level of confidentiality for sensitive information and material.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledgeable of the principles of customer relations.
Highly developed computer skills and related word processing, spreadsheets, and software including Excel, Access, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Word.
Demonstrated ability to handle effectively multiple tasks in a busy office environment.
Skillful in welcoming and communicating courteously and professionally with a wide variety of visitors, including museum professionals, business and community leaders, and other stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree or applicable experience or training.
Selected candidates must pass a criminal history background check.
