Position Title – Shift Supervisor (Administrative and Office Specialist III)

Salary - $13.40/hour

Job Type - Part-time

Sky Meadows State Park is looking for self-motivated and outgoing individual to provide information about the park, its amenities, and local area information.

Provides office support services to staff members.  Provides coverage at the park’s Contact Station, Visitor Center, and Park Office. Assists with the park merchandise program.  Collects appropriate fees and registers overnight cabin/camper guests to ensure all information is obtained in an orderly manner.  Required to operate a computer, cash register, fax machine, laminator, handheld radio & multi-line phone system. Managing parking operations.  The position provides accurate and detailed information on the reservation procedures/information, park fees, including amenities throughout the park, and provides clear and accurate information on park interpretive programs, and local area attractions.  Performs clerical duties such as answering telephones, copying, and typing correspondence.  Works independently in preparing check-in packets and information for the next shift.  Communicates well both verbally and in writing.  Ability to reconcile a till, and note any discrepancies in a detailed manner.  Opening and closing routines of the park. General housekeeping of park facilities and cleaning of workspace and front office is required. Other duties may include special events and interpretive programs assistance and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:  Required to operate a computer and cash register. Must be able to count money, perform daily register transactions, reconcile registers, and complete daily cash management paperwork. Demonstrated previous experience in customer service and/or public relations environment, excellent communications skills, and ability to work in a team environment.  Considerable knowledge and skills with a variety of computer-based business applications (such as Microsoft Office software) and a variety of office equipment.  Must possess a valid Virginia Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications: High school graduate or actively enrolled in school preferred. Prior experience in park work or a related field is desirable. General knowledge of park operations required and ability to meet/work well with the public and co-workers. Giving driving direction to park visitors to the parking location. Being outside in all weather conditions, standing for long periods of time.  A valid Virginia driver’s license and clean driving record.

Special Requirements for all positions:

Must be willing to work weekends and evenings. There are no health benefits or paid vacation leave associated with the job. Employees are limited to working no more than 1500 hours in 12 months from May 1 to April 30. Position does not include benefits.  Employment in all positions within the Virginia State Parks is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check.  Employer participates in e-Verify.
