Over the past six years, the Virginia Association of Museums has successfully promoted awareness of collections care and the efforts of institutions across the Commonwealth of Virginia and District of Columbia to care for their cultural and historical treasures through our popular Virginia’s Top 10 Endangered Artifacts. Over a 100 organizations have benefitted from participating in the program and many have gained extensive publicity and secured funding to conserve and preserve their artifacts.

VAM is excited to announce that thanks to the generous support of the Blandford-Rees Foundation, the 2017-2018 program will offer conservation and preservation awards in addition to the Top 10's well-known promotional opportunities in celebration of VAM's 50th Anniversary.

Through a thorough review process by an independent Selection Committee, ten artifacts will be chosen to participate in the Virginia’s Top 10 Endangered Artifacts program and will be eligible to receive awards in the amounts of $500 to $5,000 for conservation or preservation efforts which will be granted following January’s online public voting competition or by the Selection Committee.

Nominate items that can inspire the imagination, engage the public, and tell your organization’s story and that of Virginia between November 1-17.

Read the guidelines and then nominate an artifact today!
