Thank you for your interest in our 2014 Top 10 Endangered Artifacts Program. The nomination period has now closed. If you are a 2014 nominee, we will be contacting you soon! Voting begins in August.
- Nominations will be reviewed by an independent panel of collections care professional and conservators from our partners: Department of Historic Resources, Library of Virginia, Preservation Virginia, and Virginia Conservation Association. The panel will determine the final Top 10 Honorees while the results of the public voting competition will determine the "People's Choice" Honoree.
- While there is no funding directly attached to a Top 10 designation, the online public voting webpage will include a "Donate Now" link to the participating organization's website in order to encourage support of the nominated artifact. Additionally, organizations in the past have used their participation in grant applications and to raise awareness and donations to conserve their artifacts.
- An artifact is defined as an artistic or historic object (or related group of objects) or document. Not eligible are historic sites or structures. Those would be directed to Preservation Virginia's Most Endangered Historic Sites.
- Honorees will be announced in September.
