The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation is seeking a qualified individual to direct the entire procurement process, contract administration, manage the small, women, and minority (SWAM) owned business’ program, prepare procurement reports, control surplus property disposition, and oversee the insurance program for the Foundation.
TO QUALIFY: Knowledge of the general purchasing practices and administration of contractual obligations; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to interpret State purchasing policies and regulations and to develop and oversee Agency’s purchasing policies and procedures; and ability to work independently, analyze data, compile reports and work effectively with all internal and external customers. Possess considerable experience in public procurement; knowledge of State purchasing and procurement policies and contractual services procurement policies preferred; working knowledge of procurement law preferred; college degree in appropriate field preferred; and CPPB, CPPO, or VCO certification preferred.

| National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is seeking master’s level Museum Education or Museum Studies graduate or graduate student to work as a paid intern in the DAR Museum. This position will provide support to the Assistant Curator of Education.
The person in this position will be responsible for the following duties:
• Create education materials for upcoming exhibition.
• Lead family and girl scouts programs.
• Assist with school programs.
• Creating Public Relations materials for upcoming symposium.
• Assist with the docent field trip.
Qualified applicants must have experience teaching or conducting programs to young audiences, ages 7 to 17. Applicants must also demonstrate the ability to work in a team oriented environment, be detail oriented, and possess excellent writing, oral, organizational, and MS Office skills. Knowledge of colonial and early American life is a plus.
The duration of this internship is from September through the end of December. The schedule is flexible but will require the Museum intern to work for 8-16 hours a week; approximately for 4 hours every Thursday and Friday and 8 hours for 1 Saturday per month. The position will pay $13.00 per hour.

| The Board of Directors of Oatlands Historic House and Gardens, a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, seeks a creative and energetic leader with an enterprising, entrepreneurial spirit to be the property’s next Executive Director. Oatlands is located in the Piedmont region of Loudoun County, Virginia between Washington, D.C. and the Shenandoah Valley. Once part of the extensive Carter family plantation holdings, Oatlands tells the stories of a 19th-century working plantation, an early 20th century country house and the families who made their home there. Work is currently underway to add a 19th-century barn to the property’s interpretation. Oatlands is owned by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and operated by Oatlands, Inc. Above all, the successful candidate must have a passion for leading and promoting Oatlands. Experience in or knowledge of Virginia and its history would be a strong plus. Department of Historic Preservation
The Department of Historic Preservation at the University of Mary Washington invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor position in Museum Studies beginning August 2011. In addition to teaching the introductory sequence in historic preservation, the successful candidate will assume primary responsibility for courses focusing on museum practice, the place of artifacts in historical interpretation, and best practices in the curation and public presentation of material culture, and be involved in the Museum Studies minor.
M.A. or M.S. in Museum Studies is required, with a Ph.D. in a relevant field (American History, American Studies, History of Science and Technology, Library Science) preferred. Previous teaching and professional museum experience is preferred. The Department of Historic Preservation offers an interdisciplinary major that educates students as to a broad range of preservation activities, methods, and theoretical perspectives.
